A major fund raising activity we  sponor and host is the  Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot  

The Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot

(A 10K nationally sanctioned race in conjunction with a 1 Mile and a 2 Mile Fun Run.)  This event began in 1959.  We draw participants from all over the United States.  As you can see from the photos, many families have this event as a family tradition, returning each year as part of their  Thanksgiving day celebration.  Participant ages range from babies being pushed in carriages to those in their 70's and 80's. 

It is truly a fun event drawing between 4,000 and 5,000 runers from all parts of the country.  The park's playground equipment serves to entertain hundreds of children awaiting the finish of the race.

From its inception this event has had th goal of being and remaining a family friendly event leaving all participants smiling at its conclusion.
