A major fund raising activity we  sponor with other businesses in the community (A 10K nationally sanctioned race in conjunction with a 1 Mile and a 2 Mile Fun Run.)  This event began in 1969.  We draw participants from all over the United States.  Many families have this event as a family tradition, returning each year as part of their  Thanksgiving day celebration.  Participant ages range from babies being pushed in carriages to those in their 70's.  It is truly a fun event drawing between 4,000 and 5,000 runers from all parts of the country (4,802 runmners registered in 2011; 40 states were represented as well as 10 other nations).  The event's popularity has grown steadily since its inception.  It is heavily promoted nationwide through this (Sertoma Club of Mesa) website as well as the Runners Den & Raceplace  websites, accounting for the steady growth of the event.
